Car description

History of the Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Alfa Romeo Giulia was first introduced to the market in 1962 as a sedan. The Giulia is one of the most beautiful Alfas of all time – angular yet elegant, fast, and wonderfully Italian. An icon of its era, which, thanks to masterful design elements by Bertone, offered outstanding spaciousness and visibility, along with an exemplary drag coefficient of 0.34. A sporty notchback sedan for the whole family, with a wonderfully large trunk. In its day, this vehicle was practically without competition.

And not just because of its sonorous name. But above all because it combined the characteristics of a sports car with those of a family-friendly touring sedan. With a full aluminum twin-camshaft engine, four disc brakes, and a five-speed gearbox, the Giulia was unrivaled at the time. This even applied to police vehicles. While german Inspector Wanninger, Bavaria’s 1960s commissioner, was still driving a BMW "Baroque Angel", Italy’s Carabinieri were chasing criminals in blue-and-white Alfa Romeo Giulias. Equipped with blue lights, they weren’t just chasing bad guys, but also racing through the dreams of honest Romeos on both sides of the Alps.

What made the Giulia so attractive back then still holds true today: a light car, a powerful engine – the recipe for success of all everyday sports cars. Unlike its emerging sporty competitors, the Alfa clearly stands out with its family-friendly four-door layout.

Production of the Giulia (105/115) ended in 1978 after 572,646 units.

Description of the Alfa Romeo Giulia 1.6 Super – SSC631

This Giulia Super 1.6 offered here was, according to the confirmation by Alfa Romeo Historic, completed at the factory on April 27, 1972, and first delivered to Belluno (Italy) on May 9, 1972. On November 30, 1983, it was sold to Marina M. in the province of Rome and was registered under the license plate ROMA 97724E.

On July 10, 2013, Scuderia Sportiva Colonia discovered this classic and brought it to Germany. The vehicle then underwent intensive servicing, during which the underbody was completely stripped and resealed.

The Giulia was then sold to its last German owner, who is now offering it for sale again. The condition of the body and interior remains exceptionally good to this day; the technical components have always been meticulously maintained, making this Alfa Romeo ready for new adventures.

This Alfa currently holds German registration documents, as well as copies of its Italian history.
