Car description

History of the Alfa Romeo Spider Series 4

In autumn 1989, Alfa Romeo unveiled the fourth and final evolution of the legendary Spider at the Geneva Motor Show. The basic shape of the car still originated from the pen of Battista Pininfarina and the renowned design house Pininfarina, and to this day remains one of the most timeless creations of Italian automotive design.

For the Series 4, the classic appearance was carefully modernized. The most distinctive updates included body-colored bumpers and the characteristic full-width rear light strip. At the same time, the Spider received a significantly upgraded level of comfort equipment, including power windows, electrically adjustable mirrors, and power steering. As a result, the final series successfully combined the traditional roadster character with noticeably improved everyday usability.

Most 2.0-liter models were equipped with Bosch fuel injection and a catalytic converter. In total, only around 19,000 examples of the Series 4 were produced, making it one of the most desirable and practical versions of the classic Alfa Romeo Spider today.

Description of the Alfa Romeo Spider Offered Here

This Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0 Series 4 was ordered in black and delivered new in Germany. The third and final owner – a passionate collector of classic automobiles – originally purchased this special Spider for his wife. For more than 15 years, the car remained part of the family and throughout this entire period it was cared for and maintained by the legendary Alfa Classic Center, today known as Scuderia Sportiva Servizio in Dortmund.

The mechanical condition is exceptionally well maintained and in excellent working order. With an indicated mileage of only 87,316 kilometers, this Spider presents itself as an unusually fresh and authentic example. The paintwork is also in remarkable condition, showing no significant imperfections.

The interior has been tastefully upgraded with red leather seats. In addition, elegant auxiliary instruments were installed in place of the original ventilation outlets above the center console, providing the driver with all essential information at a glance.

The soft top was renewed only recently and is likewise in immaculate condition. With this Spider, every journey – whether to the nearest ice cream café or across alpine mountain passes – becomes a stylish and relaxed pleasure. Not least, the Series 4 Alfa Romeo Spider enjoys an outstanding reputation today for its reliability and usability.

Summary

In our view, the Alfa Romeo Spider is one of the last truly authentic Italian roadsters – pure, lightweight, and full of character. An Automobile Italiano from an era when driving pleasure, sound, and design mattered more than electronic perfection.

Its classic Alfa Romeo twin-cam engine delivers a lively character and that unmistakable soundtrack which is felt as much as it is heard. With the top down, it creates exactly the unique blend of elegance and lightness for which Italian sports cars have been admired for decades: la dolce vita on four wheels.

It is no coincidence that Alfa Romeo continued to build and refine this Spider concept for almost three decades. At the same time, spare parts availability and maintenance costs remain pleasantly moderate even today.

Notice

The indicated mileage has been read from the odometer. Due to the age of the vehicle, the actual total mileage cannot be guaranteed. All offers are subject to change and prior sale. Our general terms and conditions of sale and delivery apply.

Prior to delivery, we optionally offer a comprehensive technical preparation process. This is based on our internal documented 267-point inspection procedure, in which all relevant components – from drivetrain and suspension to functionality and fine details – are systematically inspected, serviced, and carefully adjusted. This procedure forms the foundation of our quality standards and the long-term reliability of our vehicles.

Our automobiles are generally presented at our Classic Center in Kirchen/Sieg, where we showcase a curated selection of exceptional sporting classics.

Technical development, restoration, and refinement are carried out by our sister company in Dortmund – the heart of the Scuderia Sportiva Group. This is complemented by comprehensive service support and spare parts supply for classic automobiles.

Insights into the creation of our vehicles, restoration processes, technical details, and selected test drives are featured in exclusive film productions on our YouTube channel “TV Scuderia Sportiva Colonia” – offering a look behind the scenes of our daily work.
