History
The third generation of the Supra was introduced in early 1986. The Celica and Supra model series were separated from 1986 onwards. Already in autumn 1987 the version with turbo engine and 235 hp appeared. In August 1988 the first facelift at the front and the rear (three-part rear wing) took place. The Supra was sold as a Coupé and as a Targa and did not need to hide from its competitors. In the late 80s/early 90s, high-performance sports cars were in vogue and Japan contributed attractive, high-performance, fully-equipped and low-priced competitors to this boom.
Yet the Toyota Supra Turbo stood out precisely because of its design: an almost endless bonnet with two automatic flip-up headlights, a discreet rear spoiler, very contemporary tail lights and shapely aluminium rims. Count Görtz could not have drawn it better. The brawny 3 litre engine with turbocharger and 235 horses and connection as a 5-speed manual version, was good for over 240 km/h top speed. That was quite respectable at the time. The chassis is up to any challenge, the brakes and their effect very decent.
The Toyota Supra Targa offered here
..was first delivered by Toyota Prüser in Möchengladbach / Germany in February 1988. In 2005 this Targa was sold to Duisburg and in 2013 to its last owner in Krefeld. Many Supras from this period were tinkered with by their previous owners. All previous owners were able to resist this temptation, so that this Toyota has remained in its original condition until today. In the course of time it has been repainted once, but - as far as can be seen - it has not been involved in a serious accident.
Everything looks very well maintained, the paintwork is without complaint, the interior is in very good condition, the Toyota has just had a major extended technical inspection at classic car specialist Großmann in Lohmar, including a timing belt change for over € 7,000. In addition, there is a comprehensive folder with all the service work carried out, as well as a service book and original brochure. Drive off and enjoy a fantastic sports car that really doesn't show its age.
