Car description

Alfa Romeo GT Coupé by Bertone

The Alfa Romeo GT Coupés of the 1960s and 1970s – known as the Giulia Sprint GT, GT Junior and GTV – are among the most iconic and influential sports coupés in automotive history.

Their origin is inseparably linked to one name: the young Giorgetto Giugiaro, who, at just 22 years of age, designed a body for Bertone that remains timeless to this day. In 1963, the first “Giulia Sprint GT” was introduced – lightweight, precisely drawn, and of remarkable elegance.

The early models, now commonly referred to as “Step Front” or “Scalino,” are defined by their distinctive stepped front edge. Technically, the coupé was based on the shortened platform of the Giulia saloon (Tipo 105), offering a rare combination of sporting performance and everyday usability in a true 2+2 configuration.

At its heart was the legendary Alfa Romeo all-aluminium twin-cam engine, equipped with Weber twin carburettors – a power unit that remains a benchmark for character and sound. Disc brakes on all four wheels, a five-speed gearbox, and finely tuned suspension made the Bertone GT an exceptionally advanced sports car for its time.

With the Giulia Sprint GTA (“Alleggerita”), the model also achieved remarkable success in motorsport. Lightweight construction, aluminium body panels, and numerous championship victories defined the spirit of Alfa Romeo’s Cuore Sportivo.

In the late 1960s, the design evolved: the distinctive step disappeared, the lines became smoother, and the models grew more powerful and refined – most notably in the 1750 GTV and later the 2000 GTV.

Today, the Bertone coupé is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful automotive designs ever created – often described as a “Ferrari for connoisseurs.” After decades in which many examples were lost to corrosion or poor repairs, the remaining cars are now among the most sought-after classic Alfa Romeos.

Our Mission

The Scuderia Sportiva Group – which, since 2023, also includes the legendary Alfa Classic Center in Dortmund – has restored more than 100 classic Alfa Romeo vehicles over the past decades with the highest level of precision and craftsmanship.

Alongside concours-level original restorations, demand is increasingly shifting toward so-called restomod concepts – a compelling fusion of timeless design and modern engineering.

An icon that not only preserves the beauty of its era, but also delivers contemporary performance, reliability, and usability.

For many enthusiasts, such an Alfa Romeo is far more than an automobile – it is a bridge between past and present, shaped by passione and spirito sportivo.

Our Restomod Approach

Our restomod concept elevates the classic Bertone form to a new technical level without compromising its original character.

A fully rebuilt and optimized 2.0-liter Alfa Nord engine with Twin Spark cylinder head delivers approximately 190 hp in carbureted form, and over 200 hp in fuel-injected configuration.

Combined with a reinforced 5-speed gearbox, upgraded braking system, and a modern, finely tuned suspension setup, the result is a car that blends classic design with confident driving dynamics.

In our refined Signature version, we enhance this exceptional coupé with the finest materials such as leather and Alcantara, newly built Series 1 seats with integrated headrests and optional seat heating, as well as a range of discreetly integrated comfort features – including air conditioning, power steering, electrically adjustable quarter, vent and side windows, central locking, an “invisible” hi-fi system, and a newly designed center console.

The result is a vehicle that combines classic substance with contemporary comfort.

An Alfa Romeo for modern everyday driving – and for those truly special, exclusive moments.

Individualisation

Several vehicles (including 1750 GT Veloce and 2000 GT Veloce models) are currently undergoing restoration.

The future owner may choose between a faithful, original restoration or a fully customized restomod configuration.

Exterior color, interior materials, and technical specifications can be tailored to individual preferences – creating a bespoke Gentleman Racer that unites elegance and performance.
