Type Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

The large Alfa Romeo Cabriolet with its fantastic 2.6 liter 6-cylinder engine was simply a sensation when it was first presented in 1962. Orazio Puglia, a visionary and great Alfa Romeo engine designer, designed a completely new engine, based heavily on his ingenious Giulietta design with two overhead camshafts. The new 2.6-liter engine also has a block made of light metal with wet liners, as well as a crankshaft with seven bearings and, thanks to the three Solex double carburettors in the Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider, produces a powerful 145 hp. From the end of 1963, the big Alfa Romeo's also received all-round servo-assisted disc brakes. The Touring body department developed a gorgeous sheet metal cover for this perfectly shaped convertible. The chassis is designed more for comfort than unconditional sportiness. Even tall pilots can easily get in and take a seat in the wide and comfortable seats. The beautiful round instruments, of which the two larger ones display speed and engine speed in the middle and the smaller ones to the right and left provide information about water and oil temperature, oil pressure and fuel level, complete the excellent appearance. The generous trunk offers enough space for a nice vacation trip with 2 people. This Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider was built in a total number of only 2,255. 

History Alfa Romeo 2600 Spider

This vehicle offered here is the last convertible built (no. 2255) from this 2600 Spider series. The motor is the correct motor from this series. This Alfa Romeo was first delivered to the USA in 1965 and came to Germany as early as 1981. A doctor from Westphalia (D) imported it and had it extensively restored in 1995 (photo documentation is available). It was only sold to its 2nd German owner in 2014. He invested more than € 30,000 in optimizing the vehicle, so that it is still in a very dignified and beautiful condition today. The engine and the 5-speed transmission from ZF harmonize perfectly, the paint, chrome and leather are in first-class condition. We are selling this magnificent convertible on commission for the consignor. Perfect Italian grandeur for those stylish moments in life.
