History of the "New Class"
This saloon belongs to BMW's legendary "New Class". It was built with different engine variants from 1966 to 1972. The design was the work of Wilhelm Hofmeister, with Michelotti being given an advisory role. Alex von Falkenhausen contributed the outstanding M10 engine. The first BMW 2000 with mechanical fuel injection (tii for short) appeared in 1969. The saloon, which was very successful in motorsport, achieved legendary status when Hubert Hahne became the first touring car to complete the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in under 10 minutes in 1966.
History of the BMW 2000 tii
This BMW saloon, originally delivered as the 2000, was consistently converted to the 2000 tii in the 1980s. Originally delivered in "Agave green" with a black interior and mechanical sunroof, this vehicle was fitted with all useful extras. Now fitted is a 2 litre BMW tii engine with mechanical Kugelfischer injection and 130 hp, combined with a 5-speed sports gearbox and sports suspension, as well as the rare and scarce Alpina steel rims. In the interior we find contemporary sports seats, BMW sports steering wheel (Takata Petri) and the extended instrumentation with the 5 beautiful round dashboards from VDO. The technology has always been excellently maintained and works perfectly. The paintwork is of very good quality and there are no signs of rust. All in all, this is a very sporty 4-door saloon that is also suitable for a trip with the whole family. The absolute wolf in sheep's clothing. In our opinion, these BMW models in particular are still completely undervalued.
