  • untouched "time capsule", matching in every detail

Generally

The Maserati Quattroporte Series I was produced from 1963 to 1970 in a number of 776 pieces. The famous Italian designer Pietro Frua designed this masterpiece. Maserati offered this - its time - fastest sedan in the world in two versions: A newly designed 8-cylinder engine with 4.2 liters and 260 hp, as well as the high-end version with 4.7 liters and 290 hp. Paired with the reliable ZF 5-speed transmission, this sports sedan was good for top speeds of over 230 km / h. Every conceivable luxury was standard on board with the 4.7 liter version such as power steering, air conditioning and disc brakes all around. Lots of chrome, fantastic Smith instruments, power windows, beautiful toggle switches and high-quality, very comfortable leather seats rounded off the comfort. The famous owners of the Quattroport included Marcello Mastroianni, Aga Khan, Prince Rainer of Monaco and Anthony Quinn.

history

The Maserati Quattroporte offered here ....is a sensation. Delivered as 4.7 liters with 290 hp in the color celeste, black leather interior with red (!) Carpet on 07/12/1967 via the Maserati agency in Saint Cloud / France. We have the order and the delivery invoice. In 1975 it was resold to Marius Durbec in Marseille. This drove in until 1990 and registered the vehicle. Since then this Maserati has not been officially registered.

This Quattroporte is completely "matching", never had an accident, never painted and in all parts in the absolutely original condition. The leather, which is over 50 years old, was reconditioned by Scuderia Sportiva Colonia in a process that took months and is now in fantastic condition. The old woods have been re-polished and shine almost like new. The Smith instruments serviced, all controls and toggle switches checked, and electrics repaired. The sub-floor is ice-blasted and sealed with transparent wax. Never before have we seen such an authentic and dignified vehicle. The technology was repaired, such as replacing the fuel pumps, new fuel and brake lines, overhauling the brake system, overhauling the air conditioning compressor, water pump, cooler, renewing all hoses, adjusting the engine and the ignition system, cleaning, adjusting and synchronizing Weber carburettors, resealing the gearbox , new clutch. The hardest decision was whether or not this Maserati should be repainted. In the end, the conviction came about that the paintwork, which was slightly faded by the southern French sun, was so fascinating. This sports sedan is in the original paintwork, without rust and without attempted restoration. Only the handle on the driver's door was renewed after a break-in in the 80s. The chrome is patinated but not rotten. Such a gracefully aged Maserati V8 is unique on the market. Only to be given to enthusiasts who really appreciate such a unique vehicle steeped in history.
