Car description
Lancia Flaminia GT 3C Touring 2.5 Litri
As the successor to the legendary Aurelia, Lancia presented the Flaminia at the Geneva Motor Show in 1957 — an automobile that carried the great tradition of the Turin marque into the modern era. Technically sophisticated, imbued with quiet nobility and shaped by that effortless restraint which distinguished Lancia from other Italian manufacturers for decades.
The Flaminia GT, bodied by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan, was particularly elegant. While the four-door Berlina conveyed a more formal, representative dignity, the Touring coupé embodied a lighter, more aristocratic interpretation of the Gran Turismo concept. Touring’s patented Superleggera construction — a delicate tubular steel framework clad in hand-formed aluminium panels — gave the Flaminia GT not only harmonious proportions, but also a subtle lightness in both stance and presence.
The GT 3C version offered here is among the most desirable variants. “3C” stands for tre carburatori — three carburettors — which gave the refined V6 engine an additional liveliness, transforming an elegant touring coupé into a truly accomplished sporting grand tourer. Not without reason, auto motor und sport described the Flaminia as one of the best-handling production sports cars of its time.
Only 682 examples of the Flaminia GT were produced in this configuration — each one a hand-built expression of Italian coachbuilding artistry, technical refinement and discreet grandeur.
Description of the Lancia Flaminia GT 3C Touring offered here
We are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity to acquire an almost untouched Lancia Flaminia GT 3C Touring 2.5 Litri — a car whose level of preservation is unlikely to be found a second time in this form.
This Flaminia was built in 1962 by Carrozzeria Touring in Milan and remained in Milan until 2015. A renowned German collector discovered the coupé in Italy, immediately recognised the rarity of its condition, and imported the car to Germany. There, the Lancia was prepared for German registration with great calm, expertise and attention to detail — not restored, not “improved”, but respectfully preserved.
This is precisely where the special quality of this automobile lies:
This Flaminia is absolutely untouched, has never been welded, and remains largely original. It has not been recreated through restoration, but has preserved its own substance, surfaces, materials and history.
Cars from this era that remain largely in their original paint are extremely rare. The exterior colour, Grigio Cascine, gives the Touring coupé a cool, almost architectural elegance that perfectly suits the design language of the early 1960s. The interior, too, presents itself in authentic original condition. Seats, headliner, carpets, floor mats and boot mats have not been reconstructed, but preserved. The leather was carefully conserved by the Lederzentrum, with the aim of preserving its patina rather than concealing it.
Naturally, the engine, gearbox and differential are matching. Based on the measured compression values and the plausibly low wear pattern of the essential mechanical components, we consider the mileage of just under 44,000 km to be realistic.
Among the remarkable details are the original and complete tool kit with pouch, the Lancia jack set, the existing documents, and the original keys with their original key fob. It is precisely these quiet, often-lost details that elevate a good classic automobile into a true historical witness.
This Flaminia evidently had the good fortune to spend its entire life in knowledgeable and far-sighted hands. It does not tell the story of an elaborate restoration, but the much rarer story of care, restraint and respect for originality.
Documents and registration
The Lancia currently comes with Italian registration documents, including:
Certificato di Proprietà,
Carta di Circolazione,
Certificato Cronologico,
as well as an extract from the Pubblico Registro Automobilistico di Milano.
We will be pleased to assist the future owner with German registration, including TÜV inspection and historic registration.
Résumé
The Lancia Flaminia GT 3C Touring is one of the most elegant Italian coupés of the 1960s. It is not a car for a loud entrance, but for quiet, assured taste. A Gran Turismo sculpture in aluminium, born in Milan, shaped by Turin engineering and created for people who do not need to explain beauty.
While contemporary Ferraris, Maseratis and Alfa Romeos often pursued a more overtly sporting gesture, Lancia cultivated a different form of exclusivity: more intellectual, more refined, more subtle. A Flaminia Touring does not impose itself. It simply stands there — and for a moment, the world becomes more elegant.
This GT 3C does not impress through restored perfection, but through something far more valuable: authenticity. Original substance, original paint, original interior, an unwelded body, preserved details and a history that cannot be artificially created.
It hardly gets better than this.
A seductress that awakens our senses for la dolce far niente — not as a cliché, but as a way of life. A fascinating automobile, a fascinating history, a fascinating state of preservation.
