  • "Matching" engine and color
  • First delivery Turin (I), in Sweden since the 1970s

Typology

In 1957, at the Geneva Motor Show, the first Maserati 3500 GT was presented. For the first time, Maserati decided to produce a series sports car in larger numbers. It was the successor to the exciting A6G54, of which only 60 were made. By 1964, a total of 1972 models 3500 with body from Touring were built. Except for a few modifications, the engine was based on the legendary Tipo 350S, but the crankshaft and valve train were modified. Up until 1961, the engine was ventilated exclusively by Weber horizontal double carburetors. The modern and powerful all-aluminum engine with 2 overhead camshafts and a double ignition gave the Maserati superior performance and secured its position among the luxury-class sports cars.

Touring's body design is still a feast for the eyes to this day. This 3500 GT is rightly considered a style icon. The tubular space frame patented by Carozzeria Touring with the attached aluminum cover is simply perfect in shape and peppered with loving details. The touring design with its pontoon style and the subtle fins on the rear fenders is considered a balanced shape, especially since it expresses the Maserati philosophy excellently - not maximum performance, but the high utility of a Gran Turismo with good space and a large trunk .

The celebrities of the sixties liked to pick up the Maserati 3500 GT (including Prince Rainer von Monaco), you can't blame them for it. Entry is easy, the interior is lighter than the window surfaces from the outside would suggest. The six-cylinder in-line engine starts willingly and is a pleasant companion with its nature of delivering a lot of torque even at low engine speeds. The transmission shifts exactly. The clutch and brake operators are humane. A whole collection of Jaeger instruments provides the driver with everything there is to know.

History of the Maserati 3500 GT

This beautiful rare Maserati 3500 GT (matching numbers) is an original and sought-after carburetor and was first delivered in Turin, Italy, as confirmed by Maserati Classice. This Maserati was completed on January 14th, 1960 and still proudly wears the original color "Grigio Albany" today. This vehicle came to Sweden as early as the 1970s and was traded among prominent collectors. During this time it was repainted once in its original color. In his time in Sweden we have only been able to identify 3 previous owners. The history is completely understandable. This Maserati 3500 GT is in a very good and neat condition. The "matching" engine has been professionally overhauled by a well-known Swedish Maserati classic specialist. Overall, the technical condition is very good. The engine shows excellent compression values, the ZF S 4/17 gearbox shifts smoothly and offers perfect harmony with the 3.5 liter engine. In the interior we find the very comfortable comfort seats, which, like the door panels, were colored red in the past.

This 3500 GT is one of the most beautiful coupé's ever built. Its lines, the many details and its excellent driving performance are still fascinating today. Even tall people have comfortable space in this Maserati. Hardly any other vehicle combines the Italian flair in such a skilful way, with such breathtaking lines and sporty driving pleasure, as skilfully as this Maserati 3500. It is - without a doubt - a perfect touring coupé for lovers of Italian luxury sports cars from Modena, who attach great importance to an original carburetor copy combined with the wonderful sports engine sound of this famous series.
