Typology
In September 1963 the Giulia Sprint GT was presented at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. With its straightforward design from the hand of the young Giorgio Giugiaro, who worked for Nuccio Bertone at the time, it is still a real eye-catcher today. Technically, the Alfa engineers relied on proven and high-quality ingredients, such as double camshaft four-cylinder engine, ZF steering, four disc brakes, independent front suspension and a well-guided rigid axle at the rear, which together with the engine and a super-smoothly shiftable five-speed gearbox resulted in a perfect one sporty coupe. The trade press was enthusiastic. The Automobil Revue wrote in 1964: “... you feel safe very soon, and you appreciate the maneuverability and excellent road holding of the car, which even makes up for gross driving errors without breaking away from the rear or front. Manfred Jancke added in “auto, motor und sport”: “You get the impression that Alfa sports cars are built by people who like to drive their cars quickly and easily.” At DM 17,000, this Alfa Coupé was a very affordable offer. Various engines have been offered by Alfa Romeo over the years, from the entry-level 1300 to the 1600, 1750 and later also the 2000 GT. A successful sports coupé with a large dash of racing DNA
History of the Alfa Romeo 1750 on offer
Once a year we restore an Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce, among other things. This beautiful coupe designed by Bertone is one of our favorites. In sunny France we found a 1750 GT from the 2nd series. This vehicle was repainted in red by the 3rd and last owner of its original Verde Oliva Metallizzato. We have corrected this error in the course of our complete restoration. In addition to the entire body, we have of course professionally overhauled the entire engine and its ancillary units, the transmission, as well as the chassis and brakes. The entire electrical system and instrumentation were also repaired. All-round new seals, new tires and a new sports exhaust round off the offer. The interior was covered with new brown synthetic leather, the carpets and door panels were renewed. In addition, the shapely GTA rims have been fitted with new tires. As an additional "gimmick", the underbody was even painted in the color of the car and sealed with wax. No expense or effort was saved. The engine has yet to be run in. Now this beautiful coupé is ready and looks forward to being back on the road soon. This Alfa Romeo is still an absolute head turner and womanizer. This Bertone Coupé exudes typical Italian charm and flair. Bella macchina!
