Car description
History of the Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Alfa Romeo Giulia was first introduced to the market as a saloon in 1962. The Giulia is one of the most beautiful Alfas of all time, angular yet elegant, fast and wonderfully Italian. An icon of its time, it offers outstanding spaciousness and clarity with an exemplary Cw value of 0.34 thanks to Bertone's masterful design tricks. A sporty notchback saloon for the whole family, with a wonderfully large trunk. This vehicle was practically unrivaled in its time.
And not just because of its illustrious name. But above all because it combined the characteristics of a sports car and a family-friendly touring saloon. With an all-aluminum twin-camshaft engine, four disc brakes and a five-speed gearbox, the Giulia was unrivalled at the time. This even applied to police cars. While Inspector Wanninger, Bavaria's police inspector of the 1960s, was still driving a BMW Barockengel and Inspector Haferkamp drove a VW Beetle to the crime scene, Italy's carabinieri were chasing crooks in blue and white Alfa Romeo Giulias. Equipped with flashing blue lights, they not only pursued bad guys, but also chased through the dreams of honest Romeos on both sides of the Alps. What made the Giulia so attractive back then still counts today: lightweight car, powerful engine - the recipe for success for all everyday sports cars. In contrast to its emerging sporty competitors, the Alfa clearly stands out with its family-friendly four doors.
Production of the Giulia (105/115) ended in 1978 after 572,646 units.
