Car description

History of the Alfa Romeo Spider ‘Coda Tronca’

The first Alfa Romeo Spider, the new 105 series, was presented for the first time in 1966. The 2nd series ‘coda tronca’ came onto the market in 1969 and was built almost unchanged until 1983. These two series are still regarded as cult cabriolets today, as is the excellent-sounding 4-cylinder twin-camshaft engine. A cream piece that still makes Alfisti hearts beat faster today. The perfectly shaped design of the fastback was created by Pininfarina and is regarded as a timeless masterpiece. Alfa Romeo offered the versions 1300, 1600, 1750 and, for the first time in the Coda Tronca, the 2-litre engine, combined with a precisely shiftable 5-speed gearbox, a very passable chassis and disc brakes all round. The top-of-the-range and sought-after 2-litre version accelerated from 0-100 km/h in under 10 seconds and reached a remarkable top speed of 195 km/h.

Vita of the Fastback Spider 2.0 - AR 105.38 - SSC591 offered here

This Alfa Romeo was first registered in Germany on 02/06/1978. It served a family as a summer vehicle and was sold to its second and last owner in 2013 with a mileage of 8,113 (!!). As a result, this Spider ended up in the hands of a German aesthete, aesthete and collector of exceptional Italian automobiles. What followed can hardly be described in words. The Alfa Classic Center (ACC) in Dortmund was commissioned to build a perfect fastback in concours condition on this original and untouched base.

The underbody was then dry-ice blasted and resealed, the glass was replaced with coloured glass, the headlights were converted to H4, all edges and gaps on the rust-free bodywork were finished in accordance with the original designs by Franco Martinengo, designer from Pininfarina. Further work carried out by ACC:

*Suspension Bilstein shock absorbers front and rear with Eibach springs (ACC tuning)

*All suspension rubbers new, front wishbones adjustable at the top (GTA). Front stabiliser bar reinforced (ACC)

*Engine cylinder head conversion to unleaded. Optimisation of the intake and exhaust ports, conversion from Solex to 40 Weber twin carburettors,

*Complete drivetrain renewal,

*install 53 litre tank

Interior:

*Interior and boot carpeting custom-made in ‘loop quality

*Interior in black leather

*New soft top in Sonnenland quality

*Cardan tunnel panelling in leather (roughened),

*Install Bluetooth hi-fi system with Focal loudspeakers,

*Convert ashtray to inductive charging for mobile phones

Furthermore, wider RONAL aluminium rims were painted white and fitted. The original wheel set is available and could be replaced free of charge.

The exact fit of the lamp covers, doors, bonnet and boot lid immediately catches the eye of the observer.

The total investment amounts to over € 100,000 and this Alfa Romeo is still in top condition with an original mileage of just over 28,000 kilometres. This fastback is probably one of the most beautiful Alfa Romeo convertibles for sale worldwide.

This Alfa Romeo currently has deregistered Monegasque registration papers. Of course, copies of the German registration papers are still available, so that registration in both Germany and France can be simplified. Italian ‘Dolce-Vita’ is guaranteed with this beautiful convertible.

Summary

In short, a ravishing icon awaits the friend of Italian driving culture. Pure driving pleasure, the fascinating twin-camshaft engine, the timeless design, the marvellous sporty driving comfort, all this is a beguiling mix whose fascination continues even after more than 40 years. The danger of addiction is omnipresent, you simply don't want to stop riding. A ‘bella macchina’ for a reasonable investment. Spare parts are still available at affordable prices. We can continue to provide service and spare parts in 57548 Kirchen/Sieg or with our new sister company Scuderia Sportiva Servizio (ex Alfa Classic Centre) in Dortmund.
