Car description
History of the BMW 02 Convertible
The factory convertible of the BMW 02 (Type 114 C) was drawn by Baur Stuttgart for BMW and also built there by hand. It was produced in two versions: A 1.6 litre version with 85 hp and a 2 litre version with 100 hp. Only 200 examples of the 2 litre were built and this one should really make the saying "Joy of driving-Freude am Fahren" true, because even now more than 50 years after the last convertible was built, the owners of these very rare original full convertibles praise their vehicles for their sportiness, the handiness, the suitability for everyday use, the compact body and for the extraordinary driving pleasure. The turbine-like M10 engine is legendary and is very powerful and harmonious in combination with the precise 5-speed gearbox. The 100 hp also have an easy time with the just under 1000 kg kerb weight.
Vita of the BMW 2002 Convertible offered here
The original BMW 2002 Cabriolet offered here was delivered to Wiesbaden / Germany on 11.06.1971 according to the available BMW certificate and registered for the first time on 15.06.1971. The delivery colour was "Chamonix" White. The history of this unique convertible can be completely retraced. In 2009, this convertible came into the hands of the legendary BMW 02 specialist Andy Andexer and his team and was restored without compromise for the -to this day- last owner. In the course of the technically perfect restoration, a few small finishing touches were also made, such as the installation of a contemporary Alpina sports steering wheel, Alpina style alloy wheels, leather-covered original contemporary Recaro sports seats with a two-stage seat heating system. The last owner owns an exceptional collection of cars, which has been complemented by this top-restored convertible. Not only has it been expertly cared for and cherished, but it has also been used sporadically, including on two international BMW Bavaria tours. This vehicle is currently in absolutely top condition, all gaps are perfect, the car is cavity sealed and has always been stored in a dry hall. Should the new owner prefer the original delivery configuration (steering wheel, rims, seats), we can exchange these 1:1 from our stock.
Currently this BMW has German registration papers incl. registration certificate as a classic car.
Summary
In short, a ravishing icon is waiting for the friend of the open BMW driving culture. Pure driving pleasure, the fascinating turbine-like M10 engine, the timeless design, the wonderful sporty ride comfort, all this is a beguiling mix whose fascination continues even after more than 50 years. "Driving pleasure" in its most beautiful form. Most spare parts are still available at affordable prices thanks to the BMW modular system. We would be happy to take over the future service and spare parts supply.
