Car description
At the 1966 Paris Salon, Maserati presented the Mexico (internal Tipo 112), a four-seater luxury-class GT coupé with a notchback and V8 engine. The Mexico was based on a Bertone prototype from 1965. For the production version, however, Maserati opted for the Michelotti design by Vignale. A total of 482 pieces of this stylish Gran Tourismo had been built by the beginning of 1973. Technically, it was based on the Quattroporte chassis, which had been shortened by 11 cm, and a 4.7-liter and 4.2-liter variant of the tried-and-tested eight-cylinder engine were offered. Like hardly any other coupé in its class, the Mexico combines superior performance with style and subtle nobility. Typical of Maserati, as its elegant, sporty silhouette is deliberately different from the brute sports equipment of its time. A car for the connoisseur.
This Mexico was first delivered in Rome and has only had four previous owners so far. The history is completely traceable and documented. Five years ago we had the honor of selling this vehicle to a Monegasque collector who now wants to downsize his collection and has given us this Maserati for sale on commission. He currently has, of course, Monegasque vehicle documents. This 2 + 2 Coupé was serviced by Candini and Tralli (Maserati specialists) in Modena / Italy, among others. His dreamlike color combination "bianco polo park" with black Conolly leather interior is very elegant. The engine is matching numbers. This Mexico is also equipped with the wonderful Borrani spoke rims. The rest of the equipment includes power windows, colo glazing, leather trim (in abundance) and wood paneling on the dashboard, the interior trim and center console. The mileage is confirmed by the previous owner. The driving performance is still enchanting today. This overall condition is largely original with a touch of patina. The engine runs excellently and spoils with a wonderful V8 sound from Italy. The precise ZF 5-speed transmission always has the right gear ratio ready. A major service has just been completed, including resynchronization of the Weber carburetor system. In short, a very nice to drive 2 + 2 Gran Tourismo, which is currently still undervalued and, in addition to its stylish appearance, also represents an excellent investment.
This offer is non-binding and subject to prior sale. Additional services such as transport, appraisals, etc. are possible for a separate expense allowance.
