history
The Biturbo models, which have been appearing since the end of 1981, were created under the direction of the Argentine businessman Alejandro De Tomaso. With the Biturbo models, he secured the continued existence of the Maserati brand during this time. In 1991 the pinnacle of the "litre" models for the Italian and Spanish markets was presented, the Maserati Racing. At the beginning of the 1990s, a displacement of up to 2 liters was still the limit at which Italian and Spanish vehicle owners benefited from tax advantages. This 2+2 seater sports notchback was generally a great hit by the Italian designer Pierangelo Andreani. In the last, slightly revised version, a total of 230 examples of this 2 liter racing car were built between 1991 and 1992. The technical goodies consisted of, among other things: four overhead camshafts, 2 IHI turbochargers, sodium-filled 24 valves and forged pistons. The Racing easily reached a top speed of more than 250 km/h and thus relegated the competition to the lower places. An electronic active wheel suspension was developed together with Koni, and Getrag donated a suitable 5-speed gearbox. In addition to the slightly modified body, Maserati spoiled its customers with a very elegant interior. It is a special, extraordinary Italian sports car, with ultimate sporty genes, but still typical Maserati with a lot of luxury and flair.
The Maserati Racing offered here
This Maserati Racing was imported from Italy by Scuderia Sportiva Colonia. It convinces with its fantastic condition. Two previous owners drove and maintained this coupe with foresight. The new vehicle character is underlined by the still existing protective films on the inside of the door panels! Nothing is worn, no patina, this Maserati Racing presents itself in fantastic shape and appearance. The low mileage is particularly interesting for ambitious "trident" collectors. He's the perfect wolf in sheep's clothing and his unfiltered stats are just as impressive today as they were 25 years ago. On the way to becoming a classic car, this model is a very worthwhile investment. With the vehicle, we hand over the Maserati tool kit, as well as the operating manual, the stamped service booklet and the leather-covered on-board folder. This Maserati Racing currently has Italian registration papers. A contemporary witness of Maserati history that should not be missing in any ambitious Maserati collection.
