Car description

History of the BMW 3.0 CSi Restomod Offered Here · SSC-667

This BMW 3.0 CSi was produced in January 1973 and first registered in Bavaria just one month later. From the factory, the coupé was equipped with the highly desirable sunroof.

After being taken off the road in 1993, the BMW was acquired by Scuderia Sportiva Colonia in 2019. Beginning in 2022, the car underwent an uncompromising nuts-and-bolts restoration. The coupé was completely dismantled and rebuilt both mechanically and cosmetically with the utmost craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The restoration was completed in 2024. The result is far more than an exceptionally well-restored BMW E9: SSC-667 combines the timeless elegance of BMW’s grand coupé with significantly enhanced performance, more modern driving characteristics and a carefully selected range of technical improvements.

The bodywork is finished in Anthracite Metallic, colour code 055. Combined with the fully renewed tan leather interior, it creates an exceptionally elegant and distinctive colour combination.

The warm tone of the leather provides a stylish contrast to the deep anthracite paintwork and emphasises the sophisticated grand-touring character of this BMW 3.0 CSi. Tinted glass, chrome detailing and classic 16-inch Alpina-style wheels complete its confident and distinguished appearance.

Power is provided by a potent M90 straight-six engine producing approximately 240 hp. Combined with a fully programmable engine management system, the unit delivers immediate throttle response, impressive torque and a wonderfully characterful exhaust note.

The engine gives this elegant coupé performance that remains genuinely exciting today, without overshadowing the original character of the BMW E9.

The fitted five-speed Getrag overdrive gearbox considerably improves the car’s long-distance touring ability. At higher speeds, the BMW feels more relaxed, quieter and more composed, while remaining an authentic driver’s car from the early 1970s.

The suspension and braking system have also been upgraded to complement the increased engine performance. A Bilstein suspension system, combined with a subtle ride-height reduction of approximately 30 millimetres, provides more precise turn-in and significantly improved road holding.

The uprated braking system inspires confidence and provides a reassuring sense of security at all times. A front strut brace further increases the rigidity of the front section.

The result is a beautifully balanced combination of comfort, precision and sporting ability – exactly what one would expect from a modern grand tourer in timeless classic form.

Conclusion

For many years, Scuderia Sportiva Colonia has devoted particular passion and expertise to the technically sophisticated coupés of the BMW E9 series. Their captivating lines, refined driving characteristics and powerful straight-six engines made these cars some of the most fascinating European grand tourers of the early 1970s.

With SSC-667, this exceptional foundation has been carefully and respectfully developed. The optimised suspension, uprated braking system and enhanced M90 engine improve performance, safety and long-distance usability without compromising the unmistakable character of the BMW E9.

BMW’s famous slogan, “Sheer Driving Pleasure”, comes to life in the E9 in a particularly elegant and distinctive way. The interior impresses with high-quality materials, comfortable seating, excellent visibility and individually framed VDO instruments. The additional VDO Classic gauges with chrome bezels blend harmoniously into the historic appearance of the dashboard.

Or, to put it somewhat more playfully: had James Bond been German, his company car might well have been a BMW E9 – and he would surely have appreciated the CSi’s standard power steering.

We provide a one-year warranty on the restoration work carried out by us, subject to all required maintenance and servicing being performed either at our premises or by a service partner approved by us.

We also regularly have further BMW E9 models available at various stages of restoration. Depending on the individual project, the exterior colour, interior specification and technical options can be tailored to the buyer’s personal preferences.

We would be pleased to prepare an individual proposal, including a detailed list of available options.
