Car description

Alfa Romeo 1300 Zagato

The Alfa Romeo 1300 Zagato ranks among the rarest and most exclusive sports coupés in Alfa Romeo’s history.

Its origin is inseparably linked to the renowned Carrozzeria Zagato – a coachbuilder long associated with uncompromising lightweight construction, aerodynamic efficiency, and a distinctive, avant-garde design language. During the 1960s, a series of exceptional coupés were created on Alfa Romeo underpinnings, deliberately setting themselves apart from the more widely known Bertone designs – more reduced, uncompromising, and deeply rooted in motorsport philosophy.

The characteristic lines, defined by functional design and craftsmanship of the highest level, follow a clear principle: maximum performance with minimal weight. The lightweight body construction, combined with its compact proportions, results in an exceptionally agile and immediate driving experience.

The 1300 Zagato was powered by Alfa Romeo’s legendary twin-cam engine – a high-revving, responsive power unit, celebrated for its distinctive sound and direct power delivery. In combination with precise handling, low weight, and direct feedback, it creates a driving experience that remains unmatched to this day.

Due to its very limited production numbers and the high attrition rate over the decades, the surviving examples are now among the most sought-after and rare Alfa Romeos in existence.

Our Mission

The Scuderia Sportiva Group – which has included the legendary Alfa Classic Center in Dortmund since 2023 – has restored and rebuilt numerous classic Alfa Romeo vehicles to the highest standards over the past decades.

Alongside original restorations, demand has increasingly shifted toward so-called restomod concepts: a fascinating fusion of classic aesthetics, traditional craftsmanship, and modern technology.

A vehicle that not only preserves the substance of its era, but also delivers contemporary performance, reliability, and usability.

For many enthusiasts, such an Alfa Romeo is far more than an automobile – it is an expression of individuality, style, and the connection between past and present.

Our Restomod Approach

Our approach translates the extraordinary Zagato design into the present day – without compromising its original character.

The future owner is deliberately offered a choice between different technical concepts:

A faithful restoration of the original 1300 cc Alfa Romeo engine, preserving the vehicle’s lightness, rev-happy nature, and authenticity in its purest form.

Alternatively, an enhanced technical concept based on a 2.0-liter Alfa Nord engine, complemented by the corresponding 2-liter rear axle, optimized suspension setup, and upgraded braking system – resulting in a significantly more composed and long-distance capable driving experience.

In addition, we realize a consistently developed restomod concept based on the Twin Spark engine with an output of at least 190 hp – a combination of classic lightness and modern performance at the highest level.

In combination with a reinforced 5-speed gearbox, finely tuned suspension geometry, and a modern braking system, this results in a vehicle that unites the purist Zagato character with contemporary driving dynamics.

In our exclusive VM Signature version, we refine this exceptional coupé through uncompromising craftsmanship. The finest materials such as leather and Alcantara, fully rebuilt seats, as well as individually defined surfaces and details are created with meticulous attention to detail.

At the same time, we discreetly integrate modern comfort features such as air conditioning, electrically operated windows, optional power steering, central locking, a subtly integrated hi-fi system, and further functional enhancements.

The result is an automobile that preserves its classic substance while meeting the demands of modern usability – without compromising character or aesthetics.

An Alfa Romeo for everyday enjoyment – and for truly special moments.

Individualization

The future owner has the choice between a faithful restoration or a fully individualized restomod configuration.

In addition, exterior color, interior, and all technical specifications can be defined according to personal preferences – resulting in a bespoke one-off that uniquely combines lightweight construction, elegance, and performance.

Our Philosophy

The Scuderia Sportiva Group sees itself as your partner for exceptional classic automobiles from Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari, and BMW.

With passion, experience, and technical expertise, we bring history back onto the road.

Preserving tradition
Refining technology
Maintaining emotion

Note

We regularly provide insights into our restoration projects via our social media channels – particularly our work on Alfa Romeo Bertone coupés. On Facebook, Instagram, and our YouTube channel, selected vehicles are documented from initial disassembly through to final completion – transparently, authentically, and with the same passion that defines each of our projects.

We warmly invite you to follow us and gain further insight into our work under “Scuderia Sportiva Colonia” on the respective platforms.

All restoration work is fully documented, ensuring that the vehicle’s history and overall mileage remain comprehensible at all times.

We provide a 12-month warranty on all restoration work carried out by us. This is subject to all required maintenance and servicing being performed either by ourselves or by a service partner authorized by us.

A bespoke photographic book documents every stage of the restoration process, underlining the quality and transparency of our work.

This offer is non-binding and subject to errors and prior sale. Our general terms and conditions apply.

For customers in Germany, we also offer a new TÜV inspection including historic registration (H-plate), as well as support with registration, valuation reports, and further formalities.

Transport within Europe is carried out in enclosed trailers. For international clients, we arrange professional worldwide container shipping.

The vehicles currently offered and under restoration are located either at our new Classic Center in Jungenthaler Straße 1A, 57548 Kirchen (Sieg), or at our sister company Scuderia Sportiva Servizio in Dortmund.

Within the historic former Jung locomotive shed in Kirchen, we also present a curated selection of exceptional and sporting classic automobiles.

The published photographs illustrate previously completed Alfa Romeo body restorations and engine configurations.

As a final note, and based on our experience in design and market preferences, we would like to highlight a particularly distinctive specification.

A vibrant, period-correct yellow – in the spirit of Giallo or Giallo Oro – paired with a black interior emphasizes the car’s expressive character in a striking way.

Alternatively, a deep, dark blue such as Blu Zagato in combination with a tobacco-brown interior creates a refined and understated elegance, while a classic Verde Muschio represents a particularly tasteful and individual choice for connoisseurs.

We would be delighted to personally guide you through the configuration process and develop a specification that reflects both your vision and the character of this exceptional automobile.
