Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone
When the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1967, one thing was immediately clear: this was not just another car. It was a masterpiece – a fusion of Italian design, engineering, and passion brought onto four wheels.
Designed by Bertone, the car embodies everything that defines the fascination of Alfa Romeo: timeless elegance, pure sportiness, and that unmistakable brio – the fire that only the Italians know how to infuse into their automobiles.
History of the Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone – Series 1 – SSC659
This particular example of the highly sought-after first series Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone was first registered on March 19th, 1969.
Nearly three decades later, in 1997, the car passed into the ownership of an art historian and collector, who proudly drove it along the Côte d’Azur – where roads truly do justice to such an automobile.
In 2015, however, he decided to commission a full concours-level restoration at the renowned Alfa Classic Center (ACC) in Dortmund – an undertaking that, even for the author of these lines, induces a certain shortness of breath when looking at the associated invoices and investments.
Body
The body was completely restored to concours standards. Particular emphasis was placed on perfect panel gaps, sharp lines, and the precise opening and closing of doors and panels.
The body was stripped using a water-jet process and, following restoration, treated with a KTL (cathodic dip coating) process.
Suspension & Brakes
Engine & Transmission
The engine has been completely rebuilt and modified:
The focus was not only on increased performance (approx. 140 hp), but also on strong low-end torque.
A custom stainless-steel exhaust system with tubular headers and increased pipe diameter complements the setup.
The gearbox has been fully rebuilt, including all bearings and synchros, and converted from floor-mounted to hanging pedal assembly.
Interior
The interior has been completely rebuilt:
Additional Details
The restoration was completed in 2019. Total investment, including the base vehicle, amounts to well over €250,000.
The condition of this Alfa Romeo is truly exceptional, and the asking price reflects only a portion of the total investment made.
A comprehensive photo book documenting the restoration is included.
Approximately one year ago, this extraordinary Alfa Romeo was sold to an enthusiast and collector in Germany. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, the current owner has decided to part with the vehicle and has entrusted us with its sale.
The car currently holds deregistered German documents, including historic registration.
Conclusion
The Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Veloce Bertone remains one of the most beautiful examples of Italian automotive design – a car that captivates not only through its timeless aesthetics, but also through its raw and engaging driving dynamics.
This coupé is more than just a classic. It is an expression of style, temperament, and an era in which driving itself was an art form.
To own such a car today is not merely to possess a piece of automotive history – it is to experience la dolce vita on the road.
