Car description

  • Mid-engined super sports car from Maserati
  • 4.9 liter version with 320 hp
  • Matching number and matching color
  • Only 21,329 miles

Shortly after Citroën acquired a majority  in Maserati in 1968, the concept of a two-seat mid-engined sports car was proposed. Lamborghini and De Tomaso already had the Miura and the Mangusta. The star designer Giorgetto Giugiaro was commissioned to develop the design for the upcoming Maserati mid-engine sports car. A prototype was completed in mid-1969 and presented in its final form at the 1971 Geneva Motor Show. A number of innovative features have been introduced. Compared to other supercars, the Bora was quite civilized and practical. The position of the pedal group on the Bora can be adjusted hydraulically. Another convenience accessory is the steering wheel, which can be tilted and pulled out to make getting in and out easier. In contrast to the other super sports cars, the Bora even offers a usable trunk. The engine is separated from the passenger compartment by a double pane of glass and is also provided with an aluminum cover covered with a carpet. This significantly increased travel comfort. The domiciled engine from the Maserati 450S racing car was a great success for Maserati. It was not only used in the Bora, but also does its job very impressively in the other super sports cars, the Ghibli and Khamsin, among others. 320 HP at 6000 rpm were also an impressive announcement for this V8 engine and delivered a splendid sound, as well as breathtaking performance. Responsible for this were: 4 Weber double carburetors, 4 camshafts, a very harmonious ZF 5-speed transaxel transmission, hydraulically assisted braking system, internally ventilated disc brakes and power steering. A combined steel-monocoque chassis and a body made of steel, as well as a tubular steel subframe for the engine and transmission, are responsible for the stability. By 1978, 530 copies of the super sports car were made, which were initially only offered with a 4.7 liter engine and later also with the 4.9 liter engine, although these were primarily intended for the US market. Racing versions were used in Group 4 by French teams.

History of our Maserati Bora 4.9

This 4.9 liter copy was first delivered to Los Angeles / USA on April 13th, 1973. It still wears its original color "Rosso Cordoba" today. In 1985 he made it to England with just over 19,000 miles and was moved another 2,000 miles there. This Maserati came to Germany in 2017 and became part of an extraordinary collection. Completely not tinkered with and largely in its original condition, this Bora is a breathtaking time capsule to this day. The new owner should decide whether to leave this Bora in its current condition or to repaint it. This Bora offers an excellent, largely rust-free substance and can be driven again without any problems after a technical inspection, which is subject to a surcharge. It is priced in very sensitively and offers an excellent investment and a lot of active driving pleasure. The British vehicle documents are currently available. We are selling the car on commission for the current owner.

The mileage is read and we cannot guarantee the actual mileage in the absence of a stamped service book.

This offer is subject to change and subject to prior sale. Additional services such as a large 154 pt. Comprehensive inspection, new TÜV, H approval, transport, registration in Germany, appraisals, etc. are possible for a separate expense allowance.
