As the successor to the legendary Aurelia, Lancia presented the Flaminia with its innovative transaxle concept in Geneva in 1957. Furthermore, the Flaminia now had servo-assisted disc brakes all around and was equipped with the excellent De Dion rear axle. Lancia afforded the luxury, various coupé versions from Pininfarina, Carozzeria Touring and Zagato for the two-door variants. The Zagato version was the particularly sporty offshoot. From 1959 to 1963, 351 pieces of the Flaminia Sport Zagato in aluminum were produced. The “double bubbles” on the vehicle roof not only served to increase the headroom for the occupants but also to increase the rigidity of the body.
This very elegant and sporty coupe was first delivered to France. In 1977 it was sold to the 2nd and last owner in France. He used his Lancia almost every day, even for hunting. We bought this car from him a few years ago and, after careful consideration, underwent a complete "nuts & bolts" restoration. Various very experienced specialists were involved in this restoration and we believe that the result is quite impressive. A current Classic Data report gives this Zagato grade 1 (concours condition). This 2.5 liter 3 carburetor Zagato is built in its elegant gray metallic color "argento auteil" with matching contemporary red Zagato seats. The original leather and the original seats are also available. Of course, the engine is "matching" and corresponds to the chassis number. The engine and of course the entire vehicle still have to be "run in" carefully.
The entire body was separated from the frame and completely rebuilt. The entire electrical system has been renewed, the brake system has been completely overhauled with new brake discs and pads, as well as new lines. The gears and the differential have been completely dismantled and restored. the elaborate Jaeger instruments have also been overhauled. The engine was also completely disassembled and, like the carburetor, completely overhauled. A complete restoration folder is available for the complete, very complex restoration.
For this Lancia we have the old French registration documents "Certificat de Immatriculation" from 1977. There are no other holder entries. We believe, it is the best Lancia Flaminia Zagato on the market.
